Harbin Ice Festival
2016–2017
Every December, an ice town rises up from the frozen Harbin grounds. Its architects from all around the world thrive in the winter Siberian wind. Building 50-meter tall sculptures is an art on its own — and so is shooting them. At dusk, the crystal clear ice blocks glow in vibrant colors, giving the pieces a second life. Was wandering the festival site all weekend at -20°C worth it? Absolutely. To this day, it remains as one of my most cherished photography experiences.
